Students as Makers: The Future of VR’ conference presented by VR+Ed

A conference to support and expand virtual reality (VR) programs in high school education. 

Los Angeles, CA

Conference Manager, November 2018- Present

Lead identification, outreach and relationship management of speakers, partners, sponsors and attendees.  Manage budget, logistics and schedule for conference focused on bringing virtual reality into K-12 education.  Developed website, www.vr-ed.org, created digital marketing strategy and all marketing materials

Goal: Create and facilitate first annual VR conference for high school students. 

 Successes:

  • Facilitated first annual conference in Los Angeles on June 10, 2019. 

  • Recruited 3 female VR expert speakers to lead conference sessions. 

  • Created in-person opportunity for 8 high school students to present their original VR projects.

 

 

Distill Creative

A creative agency that hosts hands-on craft workshops and provides consulting services.

Washington, DC & New York City

Digital Marketing & Workshop Facilitator, January 2015 - Present 

Facilitate and help design craft workshops, including vision boards, dream catchers, mosaic coasters and paper flowers. 

Goal: Instill creativity and cultivate community. 

Successes

  • Helped design original monthly craft workshops in 2015.

  • Close advisor to Founder and Principal Artist.

Created an original event for National Public Health Week 2017 and 2018. Both events were awarded funding from the GW Public Health Student Association

Goal: Enrich the GW public health student population.

April 2018: ‘Virtual Reality + Public Health’ 
Facilitated a public event to showcase virtual reality experiences that are used for public health. A recap of the event was written by Nishat Khuda on LinkedIn

April 2017: ‘What It Takes to Run for Office and How to Support Others That Run’
Hosted Liz Jaff, of CrowdPac (at the time) at Milken to inspire future public health leaders to run for public office. Students learned about their ability to participate in the legislative process at every level of government.
