Served as first point of contact for constituents, advocates and other Congressional staff for the Washington, DC office of Congressman Ed Pastor. 

Responsibilities: Wrote constituent correspondence regarding federal legislation and policy.

  • Attended Congressional briefings on CHIP, education, women's health issues, the Affordable Care Act and more. 

  • Oversaw activities and professional development of 2 Congressional interns and 1 Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute Fellow.

Program Assistant,  May - August 2012

Assisted with bi-weekly classes for the “Salud con Sabor Latino para los Niños” Program. Helped teach children, ages 10-15 years old, nutrition curriculum and exercise habits in an underserved neighborhood. 

Responsibilities

  • Developed, planned and led class through weekly hands on healthy cooking demonstrations

  • Researched best practices for youth behavior change programs and synthesized into a final report
